Anatomical immersion: dissection workshops at McGill University
2023/04/14
The study of human anatomy plays a crucial role in the training of osteopathy students. Understanding the structure and function of the human body is essential to practicing this manual therapy effectively.
In this regard, the Institut d’Enseignement de l’Ostéopathie du Québec organized two dissection workshops within the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology at McGill University in 2023. These workshops provided students with an exceptional opportunity to deepen their knowledge of human anatomy and put into practice the theory they have studied.
Dissections offer an in-depth look at human anatomy, allowing students to practically explore various regions of the body. Supervised by the laboratory director and their professors, students had the chance to handle and observe real anatomical structures, linking them to the theoretical concepts learned in class.
This anatomical immersion undoubtedly contributed to the education of these future osteopaths, helping them become better prepared, more skilled, and capable of approaching their clients’ well-being from a holistic perspective.
