Why choose in-person osteopathy training?

Important (updated June 2022): To join the future Order of Osteopaths of Quebec, practitioners will be required to have completed an in-person osteopathy program — “Opinion on the opportunity to establish a professional order of osteopaths – Spring 2022,” Office des professions du Québec.

We also believe that in-person osteopathy training is the best way to become a truly competent practitioner.

Learning in class means benefiting from a stimulating and supportive learning environment where you can ask your professors all your questions, engage in group dynamics, and develop collaboration skills essential to professional practice.

+

Can I study osteopathy online?

Online courses exist but we strongly advise against using them for initial training. Flexibility is appealing, but only in-person learning ensures you gain all essential skills.

E-learning can still be useful to review and reinforce theoretical knowledge already learned in class.

+

How many hours of training are required?

According to the recommendations of the Office des Professions du Québec (OPQ), osteopathy training must include a minimum of 3,100 hours of in-class, in-person instruction.

+

What diploma will I receive?

The diploma awarded is that of Osteopath D.O., meaning “Diploma in Osteopathy.”

+

Is the osteopathy diploma officially recognized?

In Quebec, the profession of D.O. osteopath is not yet officially recognized or regulated. Efforts are currently underway in this regard, and the osteopathy diploma is presently awarded by private educational institutions.

+

What are the tuition fees and payment options?

The tuition fees at our osteopathy school amount to $44,000 for the entire program (including thesis fees).

A payment plan is available for students at no additional cost.

+

What are the tuition fees and payment options?

Classes are held Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

+

Can international students apply?

No, since 2017, Immigration Canada no longer issues study permits to international students admitted or enrolled in institutions not recognized by the Quebec Ministry of Education. As a result, we are unable to accept such applications, like any other osteopathy school in Quebec.

Eligible applicants are Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

+

When should I submit my application?

Applications are reviewed throughout the year for the upcoming intakes. The IEOQ also accepts transfer requests from students currently enrolled in other osteopathy programs.
