What is osteopathy?

« Osteopathy is based on the use of manual contact for diagnosis and treatment. It considers the relationships between the body, mind, reason, health, and disease. It emphasizes the structural and functional integrity of the body and the intrinsic tendency of the organism to self-heal. (…) Osteopaths use their knowledge of the relationships between structure and function to optimize the body’s abilities to self-regulate and self-heal. This holistic approach to patient care is based on the concept that the human being constitutes a dynamic functional unit, in which all parts are interconnected. » Definition according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 2010.

Our mission

Osteopathy is a discipline that continues to advance and refine itself. For this reason, we aim to train therapists with keen curiosity, who know how to question their practice, stay informed about the latest publications related to their profession, in order to expand their knowledge in various techniques and maintain a commitment to continuous education.

Our values

  • Rigor: We place precision and discipline at the heart of osteopathic learning and practice, ensuring strong and reliable skills for our future therapists.
  • Professionalism: We train osteopaths to practice ethically, responsibly, and respectfully toward clients, while adhering to professional standards.
  • Kindness: We promote attentive listening, empathy, and care for each client, as well as a spirit of collaboration within the team and among peers.
  • Excellence: We strive for the highest level of quality in teaching and clinical practice, fostering continuous learning, self-assessment, and ongoing professional development.

The educational program of IEOQ offers a comprehensive theoretical and practical training that meets the criteria of Anglo-Saxon and European reference standards of the World Health Organization, as well as those of the Office des Professions du Québec, which advocates for in-person teaching of osteopathy (June 2022). Our goal is to anticipate the requirements of the future Ordre des ostéopathes du Québec in terms of rigor and seriousness.
